Captive Whispers
“In this world, it’s a privilege to find power in giving your body to someone else”
In our society, it’s a sensitive topic; transgressive behavior, the lack of consent, autonomy around a woman’s body.
But what would happen if there was a safe space? What would happen if a woman willingly skinned herself bare and were to give her full vulnerability to someone else? Is there enough trust to let another have full control over her body?
We, two queer women, who find ourselves in the shibari (and kink) community, find it important to show the beauty of letting go. Of playing with the giving and taking of control. To emphasize the rawness of bodily connections. To show the empowerment that this can bring. In this performance, we invite the audience to literally take the reins. We want to immerse them in the empowerment of someone fully consensual giving control over their body and owning it back again.
